Dr. Jimmy L. Howard is a veterinarian practitioner and consultant, teacher, professor, preacher, and Bible teacher.
Dr. Howard grew-up in Texas, born in Floydada and raised in Pantex Village near Amarillo and Panhandle, Texas.
After graduating from Texas Tech University with a B.S. and M.S. in Agriculture and Animal Nutrition, he graduated from Texas A & M with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. Later he attended Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, MO. He practiced veterinary medicine in Amarillo, Texas for many years, taught veterinary medicine at Kansas State University, the University of Illinois, and Texas A & M University. Dr. Howard was a visiting professor in the School of Veterinary Medicine at Ahamdu Bello University in Nigeria, West Africa; the University of Onderstport, Pretoria, South Africa; the Animal Health Department, Botswana Agricultural College in Botswana, Southern Africa and in the Veterinary College at the University of Oslo, Oslo, Norway. He also taught at Amarillo College, and Clarendon Community College. Dr. Howard was Head of Diagnostic Veterinary Services for Texas A & M Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, Amarillo, Texas and was a State Veterinarian for Texas A & M Extension Service, College Station, Texas.
Dr. Howard has pastored churches in Texas, New Mexico, Kansas, Illinois and Botswana, Africa. He has been a veterinarian for over forty years. He has been a bi-vocational Veterinarian and Pastor for over thirty years. He has edited four major textbooks in veterinary medicine and he has written many scientific articles in the veterinary literature.
Dr. Howard is married to his wife of 55 years, Sammie, who has seen him through thick and thin. She is an Educational Diagnostician. They have three grown children, two boys, Bruce and Steve and a girl, Kim. They have 16 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchldren. The Howards now make their home in Amarillo, Texas, where Dr. Howard still teaches Bible classes.
Dr. Howard said; “Collecting quotes started as a hobby nearly fifty years ago. It then developed into more than a hobby and almost became a full time job. It finally developed into a monster that got away from the author. However, it has been an enjoyable gathering.”
